I predict a riot

And now a story:
Sam and I are riding the 1 train up to Columbus circle to go get fantastic fantatsitc hamburgers. The train is decently full but not really full, everyone is sitting down. Then at 34th st just as the doors are closing someone says “they aint movin this train with out us.” And blocks the doors. And then 20 to 30 BLACK PANTHERS pile on to the train on their way to a protest organized by al sharpton for the sean bell shooting. I know they were black panthers because of their panther pins and because they started chanting things like “black pride” and “down with whitey” and “slap a cracker” and counting up to fifty. And then they start tearing down the subway ads. So sam and I sit there and watch and try to be as inconspicuous as possible.
THEN at 42nd street the train stops and there are maybe a hundred Santas are waiting on the platform to go to the santa parade in central park. I shit you not. Santas. Now part of the sharpton protest is a whole buy nothing campaign/ boycott. And of course all the santas are white. The black panthers are enraged and all rush to the doors to block the santas from getting on to the train. They start yelling at the santas and when one tried to get on to the train they shoved him off. The train sits in the station for about 5 minutes while this goes on. Finally all the santas just go to another car. THANK god the santas weren’t more drunk. The train doors shut and the black panthers go back to their chanting. All is fine until we get to 59th street, where sam and I are getting off and the protest the panthers were heading to is starting. The train pulls into the station. Which is swarming with cops. The black pathers start screaming at the cops, who of course cant hear them because the train is still pulling into the station. And then the train stops. The black panthers are totally expecting to get arrested and are not too pleased about that. In fact, they start pulling off their jewelry and putting it in pockets and rolling up sleeves and are legitimately getting ready for a fight. All of the Black panthers go to one door. EVERYONE else goes to the other door. And then the doors don’t open. Sam and I at this point decided that what is going to happen is that they are going to open only one set of doors and start arresting people. We legitimately begin to fear a riot and being trapped in a subway car. At this point where I had just been uncomfortable before, I am now legitimately frightened. But the doors don’t open. We literally sat in the station for two minutes. With the panthers eyeing the police and us eyeing the panthers.
And then the doors open. And very slowly everyone starts to get out. The police don’t move. The panthers slowly walk past them. Sam and I walk away.
We get out on to the street and just heave this huge sigh of relief and then go eat delicious hamburgers.
