Very Clever, John McCain

Very clever.
Also shes gorgeous. And looks a little bit like Tina Fey.
Its going to be a very close race.
UPDATE: I am not the only one who noticed the Tina Fey resemblance.

I was having this discussion with roommate Tom this evening. And really it boils down to whether you have faith that people actually pay attention to this issues (him) or if you think people are really that superficial (me). I have no faith.

Um, Chris, she's a woman.

Barack is not a woman.

Hillary Clinton is a woman.

Hillary Clinton can not be vice president.

I'm not good at math or anything, but most people are stupid.

Plus, she's a babe.

Smartest political move I've ever seen.

Come on, guys.

Women aren't stupid, even if the media disagrees. If you honestly believe women are this pathetic, why bother with feminism?

Smart politics is choosing a running mate that will help you win, one that fills in your gaps. Cheney filled in Bush's gaps (groan). Biden definitely fills in Obama's gaps.

This may be smart pandering, but it's not smart politics.

Also, Asher, dude, this quote, "most people are stupid," paints you as the nose-raised liberal that keeps swing-votes from the democratic party. Have faith in your fellow men and women.

Do you really think that 100% of Americans read up on policies, economic plans and viewpoints of all the candidates? Or do you think that MOST people listen to what the news has to say about things. And by news I mean Jay Leno, Jon Stewart and the Today Show.

I'm not really sure why I'm a nose raised liberal, but you're naive to think that this election isn't about Obama's race and Hillary's gender.

Gosh boys, I was just judging her by her looks. Why'd you two have to go and bring issues into this?

Asher:

This discussion has nothing to do with Obama's race or Hillary's gender. That's a big issue (don't worry, I'm not naive), but it's not the issue we're arguing.

We're arguing whether female Democrats will vote for Sarah Palin simply because she's a woman. I don't think they will. I don't think women are that stupid. In fact, I even believe show's like the Daily Show, the nightly news and even GMA offer enough information on the candidates for voters to make a decent--while not necessarily super well-informed--choice. All three of these shows cover the candidates plans for economics, tax, health care, gay rights, and a women's right to choose.

Also, I didn't say you're a nose-raised Democrat; I said comments like "most people are stupid" make you sound like one. Many Republicans are worried that Democrats live in a world of educational have and have-nots, where the elite, Ivy trained few are better than the "stupid" commoners. They believe Democrats feel entitled and superior to those who work hard, long hours without a secondary education. According to your statement, that most people are stupid, this is true. Comments like that bolster this misconception of Democrats. We're the peeps that are supposed to be fighting for the blue collar workers and the poor.

Now, who wants to bet their will be a mediocre SNL skit based off this whole shebang?

I see what you mean now Chris. And I do agree with you partially. I don't think that ALL Democratic women will just up and vote Republican because she's a woman.

But, I do think it's the kind of move that will get SOME thinking. Some of the old waspy, and some old jewish women that are actually very conservative but like to pretend they are liberal. Those women are the ones I worry about. I worry about them in general, not just in politics.
